Welcome to Sunday Go Lessons! My name is Jonathan Hop and I am a 4 dan with the American Go Association. I have been playing Go for about 15 years or so, and couldn't imagine my life without the game. I was an elementary/middle school teacher for over 7 years, so I wanted to combine my love of teaching with my love of the game of Go. My second goal was to make learning the game easier for people. When I learned Go, I had to do it the hard way, reading books in foreign languages and trying to play games on the internet. It's been a fun ride, and I hope that this site can be a great introduction to this game for anyone who is interested in playing. Go is a challenging game for people of all ages. The game has taken me around the world. I've played in tournaments in Korea, China, Singapore, and the U.S. The fantastic thing about this game is that you make friends wherever you go. The game is especially great for children. It helps to build focus and provides a mentally stimulating activity that is fun for the whole family. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy.
